Nigeria's Debt
On April 21, 2006, Nigeria successfully eliminated its US$31 billion worth of debt owed to the governments of the U.K., France, and other aid-giving countries that use the Paris Club process to restructure debt that countries cannot repay. It was the first-ever buyback at a discount—that would cancel all of Nigeria's debt to them in exchange for a cash payment of roughly $12 billion.

Gabon

Nigeria’s movie industry (Nollywwod) is the 3rd largest producer of movies in the world after the US (Hollywood) and India (Bollywood). The industry is estimated to be worth US$250 million and churns out in the region of well over a 1000 movies a year. Movies are sold on VCD/DVD or VHS for approx US$2 a unit. Their appeal stretches far beyond Nigeria. Nollywood films are proving popular all over English-speaking Africa and in the Diaspora. It is a totally self-sustaining industry that has developed over the last 13 years.
